Sales success for Barratt in Bristol as first time buyers lead the way at Charlton Hayes

First time buyers in Bristol have been quick to reserve new homes in the city according to leading housebuilder Barratt Homes.

It says that 60 per cent of the homes recently released at Charlton Hayes have been reserved by those buying their first home.

The five star housebuilder now has limited availability for those looking to move this summer and is already taking reservations for homes which will be complete this winter.

Barratt Homes’ sales director Andrea Pilgrim says demand is outstripping supply at Charlton Hayes with the majority of buyers also coming from within the city.

“The location of Charlton Hayes has always been popular with buyers and demand is particularly high at the moment,” she said. “New homes in Bristol are always highly sought-after, particularly with those already living in the city, but even we have been surprised by the speed in which homes have been snapped up in recent weeks. The number of first time buyers looking to make their home here is impressive too.”

She said the Government’s Help to Buy scheme had helped the majority of people reserving a home with both first time buyers and those moving up the housing ladder taking advantage of the benefits.

“More than 60 per cent of recent purchasers at Charlton Hayes have used Help to Buy and it’s proved helpful to so many homebuyers since it was launched,” said Andrea.

Help to Buy allows any homebuyer to secure a brand new home under the value of £600,000 with just a five per cent deposit.

The Government lends the buyer 20 per cent of the value of the property in the form of an interest free equity loan for five years, meaning that buyers then gain access to some of the great mortgage rates currently available with just a 75 per cent mortgage.

Current availability at Charlton Hayes includes a two bedroom Lancaster design which is priced at £214,995 and a range of four bedroom houses which are priced from £359,995. Apartments are also available from £209,995.
