Great grandad launches new business to help people with Alzheimer’s

A great grandfather has launched a new company he believes has the potential to help prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s.

Rex Garratt, a 68-year-old from Cheshire, set up SilicaWaters.com with the help of a startup loan and support from funding provider Business Finance Solutions (BFS).

His business is an online shop selling and distributing ACILIS, a silica-rich water made by drinks company Spritzer.

Rex said ACILIS is currently being used by UK scientists in research looking at ways of preventing Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological disorders, including autism, Parkinson’s and MS.

The detox water is sourced from hundreds of feet below the rainforests of Malaysia and contains high levels of silica.

According to SilicaWaters.com, Prof. Christopher Exley of Keele University, an authority on aluminium and its connection with silicon, proved that silica water has the power to remove the neurotoxicity of aluminium from humans.

Further clinical trials are planned to test his theory that removing neurotoxic aluminium buildup in the brain could be a precaution against Alzheimer’s.

Rex said: “Since there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, when I heard about the scientists’ discoveries, I decided to take the initiative to obtain ACILIS water from Malaysia so that people in the UK could try it for themselves.

“Thanks to the Start Up Loan from BFS, within a couple of weeks of applying for the funds I was able to place my first order for a shipping container of more than 30k bottles.”

He added: “In the first week of trading we sold more than 1,000 bottles, and orders are coming so fast, we will be able to order another shipment much sooner than we ever thought.”

ACILIS will soon to be available on the high street but is currently sold through SilicaWaters.com, Amazon and eBay. Rex plans to donate 10% of sales towards further research at Keele University.
