Local housebuilder teams up with school to urge drivers to slow down

Local housebuilder, Barratt Homes, has teamed up with pupils from Methley Primary School to design road safety signs for its St Oswald’s View development in the village, to highlight the dangers of driving too fast on residential roads. Three winning designs will now be made into signs to be displayed at the entrance to the development, warning local road users to slow down.

Visiting St Oswald’s View with their designs last week, the year 5 pupils got to meet the Barratt Homes team and see where the winning road safety signs would be displayed, at the entrance to the development. Nick Fish, Safina Ali and Edie Mcnurran, all aged 10, have been named as the winners of the competition and are proudly awaiting the development of a banner sporting their drawings at the entrance to St Oswald’s View.

Jo Smithson, Headteacher at Methley Primary School, commented: “We’re thrilled to have been involved with Barratt Homes and this competition – the children loved designing their signs and it taught them a valuable lesson in road safety awareness! Nick, Safina and Edie are delighted they have won and we all can’t wait to see their designs displayed at St Oswald’s View!”

Paula Chamberlain, Sales Manager at Barratt Homes’ St Oswald’s View development, said: “It has been brilliant to get involved with Methley Primary School to help educate the children in road safety awareness, and ensure they’re part of our new, growing community at St Oswald’s View. It was very difficult to pick just three winners as the designs are all brilliant – we can’t wait to get Nick, Safina and Edie’s signs made up for everyone to see!”

A delightful semi-rural development, St Oswald’s View offers stylish three and four bedroom homes tucked away in the village of Methley. Homes are available to purchase from £254,995.
