St. Modwen welcomes Costa Coffee to Kirkby Town Centre
COSTA Coffee has officially opened its doors to the public in Kirkby Town Centre, creating 15 new jobs for local people.
Regeneration specialist St. Modwen signed-up the high-street favourite to St. Chad’s Parade in February this year.
Shoppers at Kirkby Town Centre can now enjoy a cup of coffee, choose from a selection of speciality drinks or delicious treats following the opening of the high-street favourite on Saturday 13 May.
The 1,700 sq ft shop is Costa Coffee’s first branch in Kirkby and has an indoor and outdoor seated area. It also has an express counter for people to grab a coffee while on the go.
Town Centre Manager Mike Matthews, said: “St. Modwen is thrilled to welcome Costa Coffee to Kirkby Town Centre. As well as providing the community of Kirkby with another place to meet up and enjoy their Town Centre, the branch will also create jobs for local people.
“We are confident the new coffee shop will complement our diverse mix of national and local retailers, further strengthening our commitment to provide a vibrant retail and leisure offering at Kirkby, as well as pave the way for other national brands to commit to the Town Centre.”
Mark Bryan, Managing Director of Merseyside franchise partner Optimum, said: “2017 has certainly got off to a great start with two new store openings this year already; currently living within Knowsley myself it is great to see our latest store opening delivered in Kirkby. “We’re extremely passionate about creating jobs for local people and we are delighted to be adding to the food and beverage offering for shoppers in Kirkby.
“ The Town Centre has seen an increase in footfall following the improvements that have been made to the town since St. Modwen’s acquisition in November 2015 as well as the series of events organised by the Town Centre Manager.
Mike added: “Footfall figures are continuing to increase with around 127,000 per week. Following the success of last year’s events programme which culminated with 6,000 people gathering in Kirkby to see the Christmas lights being switched on, our Summer events programme will start in July. Once again we are expecting to attract big crowds.”
St. Modwen is working closely with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council to further develop the Town Centre.
