North East Digital Companies Prove Their Worth After RAR Awards Success
Two of the region’s leading creative digital lights have said they are honoured to be shining the spotlight on the region’s fledgling sector after their recent successes generated national acclaim at the esteemed RAR Awards in London.
The Drum’s RAR Digital Awards - hosted annually in the capital - recognises the best performing agencies in the country and Newcastle’s globally renowned app development firm hedgehog lab and Gateshead’s award-winning digital specialists Climb Creative both scooped major honours last week for their achievements over the last 12 months.
Climb Creative scooped the RAR Digital Award for ‘Usability’ in the under 40 employees category, while hedgehog lab - whose impressive client list includes the likes of the Financial Times, Channel 4, Thales Group and car giant Mitsubishi – won the Mobile Gong within the 100+ category.
The accolade for hedgehog lab follows a strong 2016, which saw the firm raise revenues 160%.
This year, hedgehog lab is on track to double turnover, aided by growing interest in the Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality services it has been offering since the establishment of its Immersive Technologies division in January.
hedgehog lab’s, Chief Operating Officer, Antony Dinning, said: “We are honoured to have been recognised by the Recommended Agency Register, an achievement made all the more special by the fact that we literally couldn’t have got there without the support of our fantastic customers.
“Our own research suggests our clients are happier than ever with our work, but this award demonstrates it on an entirely different level.
“Throughout the past year, we have experienced rapid growth and the fact that we have been able not simply to maintain our level of service but improve upon it during this time is testament to the attitude, commitment and unity of our talented team.
“With many exciting projects ahead and the imminent unveiling of our newly expanded Newcastle headquarters, we’re now in a great position to build on what we can offer our clients.”
Meanwhile, Climb Creative was nominated alongside some tough competition in its category and were delighted with the winning result, where over 9,000 agencies throughout the UK were evaluated.
The digital agency was also shortlisted for the ‘Web Design’, ‘Web Development’ and ‘Creativity & Innovation’ categories.
Climb Creative Managing/Creative Director, Chris Henderson, added: “It’s the second year in a row that we’ve taken awards home from RAR Digital. Last year we claimed the ‘Creativity & Innovation’ and ‘Web Design’ awards so to add ‘Usability’ to our trophy cabinet covers all of the areas we are passionate about.
It’s a great recognition for our talented team and for the North East’s thriving digital sector. This wouldn’t be possible without the amazing team we have at Climb and the passion they have for the roles they play. Thank you! Thank you! And thank you again for your hard work, it’s paid off again!
“The ratings which got us nominated in the first place came from our amazing clients, so a huge thank you for those that took the time out to rate us, we genuinely appreciate it. You are all superstars!”
