Businesses and artists encouraged to collaborate at Gateshead event
North East businesses are being given the chance to collaborate with artists and the creative sector at a quarterly event developed by Newcastle-based arts organisation, Helix Arts.
#HADADi, which stands for Helix Arts Digital Artists’ Drop-in, is designed for the business and cultural sectors to come together to present, discuss and develop new artistic ideas using digital technologies. The next event takes place on Tuesday 11 July at the Jam Jar Studios, Gateshead
Catherine Hearne, Chief Executive of Newcastle-based arts organisation, Helix Arts, said: “#HADADi was designed as a place for people to share thoughts and ideas. It’s a forum that allows artists and the business community to collaborate on projects by combining their skills and expertise.”
Now in its third year, #HADADi is supported by Newcastle University Institute for Creative Arts Practice.
The #HADADi event on Tuesday 11 July is based on the theme, ‘The Lonely City’. An open call was issued for artists and entrepreneurs working with digital technologies to develop a new piece of work that explores how arts and culture can improve the negative impact of loneliness in our society.
New media curator Dominic Smith, #HADADi MC, said: “We are looking for creative ideas using arts and culture that can be viewed and shared online; everything from short films and animations to audio presentations and spoken word.”
The shortlisted ideas will be presented at #HADADi and businesses are invited to attend the event and join the discussion.
Catherine continued: “Bringing artists, communities and organisations together to collaborate is at the heart of what we do. I’d encourage any North East businesses interested in working with artists and other creative practitioners to come along and see what #HADADi’s all about.”
#HADADi is free to attend and the next event takes place on Tuesday 11 July at the Jam Jar Studios, Gateshead.
