Lumley Castle with 'first in the UK' partnership with major tea brand

Visitors to County Durham landmark Lumley Castle will soon be able to experience a new hotel package that is being touted as one of the first in the UK.

The venue has entered into a partnership with the founders of alcoholic tea brand, Noveltea, to serve up a new afternoon tea concept dubbed ‘No Ordinary Tea at No Ordinary Hotel’, which officially launched this week.

According to the hotel, it will be one of the first in the UK and the first in County Durham to offer the package, which pairs The Tale of Earl Grey and Tale of Tangier alcoholic teas with savoury products such as cheese scones and finger sandwiches.

Following the launch, NOVELTEA Founder Lukas Passia said; “We are delighted to have partnered with Lumley Castle to create a new afternoon tea experience. Like NOVELTEA, the 600-year old castle shares a wonderful mix of tradition, spirit and heritage and it’s great to see how well the products complement their new offering.

“Having the support of local businesses and leading retail outlets including Fenwick Newcastle has been invaluable as we grow. The event at Lumley Castle however is the first time we have officially launched NOVELTEA as an afternoon tea concept.

“We believe NOVELTEA should be available everywhere, reinventing and revolutionising the afternoon tea experience and it’s great to have local venues like Lumley Castle on board supporting us on this journey.”

Claire Mitchell, Sales Director at Lumley Castle added: “Afternoon tea has always been very popular here at the castle and as soon as we tried the NOVELTEA products we knew our customers would love them. As a unique and historic 600 year old venue, we pride ourselves on being no ordinary hotel.

“Customers love a tipple with their afternoon tea and NOVELTEA provides the ideal opportunity to enjoy a brand-new experience.”
