Pitman Training invites Leeds to 'Have a Go'
Local adult education specialists, Pitman Training has been encouraging Leeds to ‘have a go’, with free taster sessions, as part of the national ‘Festival of Learning’, to raise the profile of the significance of adult learning within our communities.
Participants in Festival of Learning are being encouraged to discover what they ‘love to learn’ as the Festival celebrates adult learning and the transformational power of lifelong learning alongside increasing awareness of learning opportunities available. Pitman is encouraging locals from Leeds to take part in adult learning to help ignite their careers and future goals. Anyone who feels they are at a crossroads, or who is at the start of their career journey, will receive free taster courses, guidance and a tailored career plan, as part of the ‘have a go’ workshops which are part of the #LovetoLearn campaign. Adult education is an alternative path for those who chose to follow vocational paths, and those who have been deterred from the university route by hikes in fees. There is a very positive message that The Festival of Learning supports, one which is inclusive, and proves that anything is possible.
Dan Goodhall, Pitman Training Leeds, Group Manager said: “We are in an incredible position to be able to offer some guidance and support, and what is a turbulent time for those unsure of what to do next in their career, and those who are just about to embark in a career. The Festival of Learning is the perfect opportunity to see what there is out there, and to really look at ways outside of the traditional routes such as University to create the future of your career.
Dan added: “Our sessions are very informal and our friendly team has years of experience to share, so people can just come and have a chat.”
With statistics revealing that participating in part-time learning as an adult raises life satisfaction by the equivalent of £1600 of income per year on average,Dan hopes people will take advantage of this abundance of free support at the community’s fingertips, in celebration of the Festival of Learning to help them move forward in their careers.
