New faces, new hires and new roles, it’s time for your weekly fix of North East appointments!
Sue Alexander and Dermot Winters, Close Thornton LLP
Darling law firm, Close Thornton, has announced the appointment of two of its lawyers to the position of partner.
The Duke Street office has promoted property expert Sue Alexander and commercial specialist Dermot Winters to partner positions.
For Sue, the promotion comes after just under two years at the firm, following stints at law firms in Nottingham, Peterlee and Darlington. She now heads up Close Thornton’s conveyancing department which the firm hopes to grow into an important part of the business in the coming years.
Galway University and Northumbria University graduate Dermot joined the firm back in 2016 after spending time at a national corporate practice in Manchester. He currently heads up the commercial team at the practice which has completed transactions in excess of £200m in the past year.
Shaun Burke, senior partner at Close Thornton LLP commented: “We are delighted that Sue and Dermot are now on board as partners. They have both been an integral part of our growth recently and we are looking forward to a bright future.
“We have some very exciting plans for the firm which are very heavily focused around our corporate, commercial and property departments.
“Sue and Dermot have excellent knowledge and expertise and they will be at the forefront as the firm continues to move forward.”
