Europa’s Charity Cash Champions Rise to the Challenge
Generous staff from Europa Worldwide Group, the UK’s leading independent logistics operator, have been signing up to the business’s 50th anniversary charity drive.
Europa’s 50:50 initiative invites staff to fundraise for charity through a range of events and sponsored activities – and then the business will match the money they raise up to the tune of £500. To date, 10 staff members have signed up to the challenge, offering to complete a variety of fundraising efforts from sponsored swims, to coffee mornings, to marathons.
HR director at Europa Carl Potter said he was pleased to see that the 50:50 initiative had appealed to team members from across the UK.
He said: “So far we’ve had entries from the length and breadth of the country, as our sites stretch from Southampton to Glasgow. Staff have volunteered to do 10k runs, marathons, swims, coffee mornings and sponsored walks for charity.
“We’re proud to be sponsoring our kind-hearted staff this year to mark Europa’s 50th anniversary – it really has emphasised one of our key values which is the importance of team spirit. Fundraising brings people together and the 50:50 initiative is a great way of giving our staff a morale boost while also helping charities close to their hearts.”
The business has committed to donate the same amount raised by the first 50 employees who complete a sponsored event this year, which could total up to £25,000. The year-long 50th anniversary commemorations will also include celebrations for employees and customers to acknowledge and thank them for the part they have played in the company’s success.
Europa Worldwide Group employs around 600 people across 11 sites in the UK plus Hong Kong and is represented in 100 countries.
