Owners of Baltic’s Six restaurant to open new Hexham venue this summer
North East hospitality group Fresh Element Ltd, the operator behind the Baltic’s Six restaurant, is expanding into Hexham after winning the catering contract for The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre on Hadrian’s Wall.
Currently recruiting to fill 20 catering roles, the new café and event space is also on the lookout for front of house staff and chefs for the new development opening later this summer.
Fresh Element not only run Six at the Baltic but also Baltic Kitchen and Garden Kitchen in Eldon Garden, as well as managing all the events and weddings at the quayside-based icon.
The business aims to be fully sustainable by 2020, through sourcing local organic food, whole animal butchery at its development site and responsibly disposing of waste.
Sarah Glynn, Sill Manager, said: “We are delighted to be working with the team at Fresh Element. Their commitment to provenance provided the perfect fit for The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre, which will transform the way people understand and engage with landscape.
“We want our customers’ journey of landscape discovery to take place from the moment they arrive at our venue to the moment they leave. The catering they receive whilst with us is key to this. The ethos behind Fresh Element’s offer will allow us to tell some interesting stories about the journey our food takes from the field to the plate.
“Fresh Element will also link with our busy activity programme and help us to develop a range of fun and informative events connected to local produce including cookery classes and workshops to engage more people in the discovery of food and drink with a connection to the National Park and the wider area.”
Pete Hunt, Director of Fresh Element, added: “We are looking for enthusiastic, customer focussed staff who will add depth to our team.
“We are also looking for full time chefs to help manage our busy kitchens who are passionate about working with fresh, local sustainable food.”
