First West Yorkshire forms travel partnership with Yorkshire County Cricket Club
First West Yorkshire is set to become Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s preferred travel partner for home matches in a newly announced partnership.
With increasing numbers of fans travelling to Headingley from across the UK, Yorkshire County Cricket Club is encouraging visitors to travel by bus to avoid the hassle of finding a parking space, or getting stuck in traffic.
First West Yorkshire operates two services (56 and 19) from the city centre, which can take cricket fans straight to Headingley Stadium.
John Godfrey, marketing manager at First West Yorkshire, said: “Our frequent and great value buses can take you to and from the cricket. Our network stretches all across Leeds with easy connections; so wherever you’re travelling from they’ll be a bus for you.
“We also have a wide range of tickets available to suit the needs of different customers, including the Weekend 5 travel for £5 ticket, which is great value if you’re travelling to the cricket with friends or family.”
Andy Dawson, Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s commercial director, added: “I’m confident this will prove to be a hugely popular partnership, particularly with our increasing number of T20 season ticket holders and supporters, who are continually looking for the most convenient and hassle-free ways of arriving at Headingley Cricket Ground.
“First’s existing network of routes mean that people can link up with both of the city centre services which run right by Headingley Stadium. We hope that supporters take up the opportunity to enjoy T20 cricket to its fullest, at a world-renowned venue.”
