Middlesbrough FC on board with Newcastle Airport partnership

Newcastle Airport has added Middlesbrough Football Club’s Foundation to its list of adopted charity partners.

The new partnership will see Middlesbrough Foundation join together with Newcastle United Foundation and Sunderland AFC Foundation of Light for the first time to raise funds, as they collectively work together to engage both staff and customers at Newcastle International Airport.

MFC Foundation works across Teesside, delivering sport, health, education and inclusion projects that raise aspirations and change lives amongst the most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.

The Foundation was set up by Steve Gibson in 1996 as the independent charitable arm of Middlesbrough Football Club, working with over 30,000 people every year and has delivered over 20,000 qualifications, engaged with over 500,000 people and invested £25 million locally in order to tackle inequality and disadvantage.

Nick Jones, Chief Executive of Newcastle International Airport, said: “We’re delighted to add Middlesbrough FC Foundation to our list of charity partners.

“We have enjoyed great success with both foundations at Newcastle United and Sunderland AFC and have so far raised almost £60,000 for communities across Tyneside and Wearside since launching in 2015.

“Teesside and the south of the region are very important to us and the people of the North East have demonstrated their passion for football and helping those in need. We hope to utilise this new partnership to help even more people across the North East over the coming year.

Ann-Marie Anderson, Business Development Manager at MFC Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be entering into a partnership with Newcastle International Airport.

“We look forward to building on our relationship in order to make Teesside a better place to live, learn, work and play, particularly for those who are the most vulnerable. Together we will give marginalised communities hope for a brighter future.”
