Barburrito fund raiser for Teenage Cancer Trust
Barburrito at intu Metrocentre has raised over £1,700 for Teenage Cancer Trust with a Sunday burrito giveaway.
In exchange for a donation to Teenage Cancer Trust, Barburrito staff gave away complimentary burritos to shoppers at intu Metrocentre and were bowled over by the generous support from caring customers.
In total, Barburrito distributed 1096 burritos and raised a whooping £1777.47 for Teenage Cancer Trust. These funds will go towards Teenage Cancer Trust
services including hospital units similar to The Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle, specifically designed for 13 – 18 year olds suffering from cancer. The
hospital has 10 in-patient beds including 4 traditional beds. All bedrooms are equipped with soft furnishing, bespoke furniture, DVD and gaming facilities.
Teenage Cancer Trust has been the chosen charity of Barburrito for over two years and they’ve raised over £20,000. The partnership is now heading into the third
year and Barburrito continues to do lots of fundraising activities across their twenty one stores in the UK, including events such as Super Hero Day, Great Manchester Run and most recently, the Color Run.
Vanessa Simmons, Teenage Cancer Trust Regional Fundraiser Manager, said:
“It’s fantastic to have Barburrito’s support. As a charity we rely on voluntary donations and the support of the local community through events like these to ensure
young people with cancer and their families have access to the best possible care and support. A huge thank to Barburrito for their support and helping raise
awareness and funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.“
Lynsey Hutchinson, Marketing Manager at Barburrito, added:
“Teenage Cancer Trust makes sure the seven young people aged 13 to 24 diagnosed with cancer every day don’t face it alone. They help young people and their
families deal with the many ways cancer affects the body, mind and life. The charity works in partnership with the NHS, providing expert staff and specialist units in
Principal Treatment Centre’s for cancer, and brings young people together so they can support each other.
“Right now, for every young person Teenage Cancer Trust is able to reach, there’s another they can’t. Teenage Cancer Trust is aiming to provide specialised nurses
across the UK in order to reach all young people with cancer, no matter where they live. To do this they will need to raise £20 million a year, every year, by 2020.
Everyone at Barburrito wants to do their bit to help this amazing charity.“
