Local site managers awarded in national housebuilding competition
Site managers working for local housebuilder Barratt Developments, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, have scooped three prestigious awards in a national competition to find the best-run building sites in Britain.
The three site managers, including Martyn Thorley who works at the David Wilson Homes Chocolate Works development, Ben Waines, at the David Wilson Homes Saxon Gate development and Steve Sharp, who is based at the David Wilson Homes Pembridge Park site, have all gained official recognition for the excellence with which they run their sites, by receiving a Pride in the Job Quality Award. This marks the fourth time that Martyn has received the award and the third time for Ben and Steve. The awards are dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the highest standard in housebuilding.
The three winners were joined by other Barratt Developments site managers from across the UK, who have scooped 74 awards this year for quality workmanship. Barratt Developments’ site managers have won more Pride in the Job awards than any other housebuilder for the thirteenth year running.
Managing Director at Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, Paul Newman, commented: “At Barratt, we thrive on working to the highest standards and so I’m thrilled that three of our site managers have been recognised with these awards because it is so very well deserved.
“The role of a site manager is vital in ensuring the delivery of high-quality homes and we are delighted that James has been recognised with this award for the second time. It demonstrates our on going commitment to quality, and can only further the confidence our customers have in our ability as a five star housebuilder.”
The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are the most coveted in the housebuilding industry and have been instrumental in driving up standards for 37 years. They are awarded after the construction standard setting body, the NHBC, carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best-organised and best-quality housing developments.
Thousands of site managers throughout the UK were judged on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety.
This award comes on the back of Barratt Developments being awarded five stars by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for customer satisfaction. Barratt is the only major national housebuilder to be ranked as five star by the HBF for the last eight years.
