Planners give the green light to 150 new homes in Bristol

A development of 150 much-needed new homes has been given the go-ahead by planners in Bristol as part of the Filwood Park regeneration scheme.

Barratt Homes is due to start construction work at Filwood Park this year on land owned by the Homes and Communities Agency and formerly the site of support building for the old Bristol (Whitchurch) Airport and an area of open land.

The new community is set to transform this area of Bristol with a wide selection of new homes and a large area of parkland with children’s play area and paths for walkers and runners.

Five star housebuilder Barratt says that all homes will be built to Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes with bespoke urban designs to create a landmark development.

Features will include a crescent of homes overlooking the park and Barratt Homes sales director Andrea Pilgrim said the development will provide much needed new homes in a stunning environment in Bristol.

“The city was voted the best place to live in the UK earlier this year and developments such as Filwood Park will only enhance the attraction of living here,” said Andrea.

“This is great for people keen to live in Bristol,” said Andrea. “We think very carefully before deciding where to build new properties - and we’re thrilled to be playing our part in bringing new homes to people in the city.

“The layout of this development has been created with a whole host of lifestyles in mind - from sole occupants and couples to growing families. This is very important to us. We know there is a need for new and accessible housing in this region, and our home designers have done us proud here.”

HCA General Manager Kevin Bourner said: “It is great news that this site will be used to provide much-needed new housing for Bristol and make a significant contribution to the regeneration of Filwood.”
