Tees Valley Business Compass points over 50 Redcar businesses in right direction
More than 50 Redcar-based companies have now been supported by a growth surgery organised by the Tees Valley Business Compass, in partnership with the local council.
Backed by a further twelve partner organisations from the region, the initiative has provided assistance in all areas of enterprise from starting up to scaling.
Tees Valley Business Compass is a local growth hub which supports thousands of businesses, using an investment of more than £9.5m from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) secured by Tees Valley Combined Authority.
The Business Growth Surgery specifically helped enterprises in issues regarding funding and finance, new business wins, coaching and mentoring, apprenticeships and skills training, winning business in the public sector, supply chain development, and exporting.
Shak Asghar, Growth Service Manager of Tees Valley Business Compass said: “We are delighted to have seen so many businesses from the Redcar and Cleveland area take advantage of the Business Growth Surgery.
“When someone is running their own business it can seem like a distraction to take time out and get expert advice on growth and related issues, but it can be an extremely worthwhile thing to do.
“I would like to thank all of the partner organisations who contributed to the event’s success. The time they contributed meant that we could offer an unrivalled depth and breadth of expertise to the companies that came along.”
Cllr Bob Norton, Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, who attended the event, said: “We are keen to encourage and support our business base to grow.
“Creating new jobs and greater prosperity for Redcar and Cleveland, is an important part of our economic plan. It was fantastic to see so many companies with scale-up ambitions coming forward, and so many local organisations willing and able to help them out.”
