Work completed on £100m Amazon logistics facility in Doncaster

Verdion, the real estate investor and developer, has completed construction work on the new 1.1 million sq ft, £100m logistics facility for Amazon in Doncaster.

The new facility is located on Verdion’s 6 million sq ft iPort logistics development, which is a strategic rail freight interchange.

Measuring 0.5 kilometres in length, the size equivalent of 14 football pitches, the warehouse is designed with an interior fit-out design and specification that is unique to Amazon.

John Clements, European development director of Verdion, commented: “We are delighted to have completed on schedule, less than 12 months after signing the deal with Amazon – extremely quick for such a large and complex project.”

Gent Visick, CBRE and Colliers are letting agents for iPort.

iPort offers both speculatively built units as well as design and build space ranging from 50,000 sq ft to 1 million sq ft and includes a 35-acre high specification rail freight facility, providing services with continental gauge clearance to all major UK ports and the Channel Tunnel.

The site is linked to Junction 3 of the M18 via the Great Yorkshire Way, which was constructed to enable the development of the site.

Back in April, Verdion commenced work on the second phase of the £500m development. A further 3 million sq ft of space is set to be added within the second phase of the 6 million sq ft logistics park.
