Business leaders to give the inside track on North Wales opportunities

Business leaders and Industry experts from across North Wales and the Northern Powerhouse will offer their insights on business growth and development opportunities for North Wales at a one-day business conference.

An impressive roster of speakers including Rachel Clacher, founder and director of Moneypenny, Richard Mawdsley, director of development at Wirral Waters, and Paul McKinlay, senior VP and head of Airbus’ Broughton Plant will discuss key industry trends and market opportunities during the Business Growth North Wales conference.

The event at Theatr Clwyd in Mold, on September 26th will be held by the North Wales Mersey Dee (NWMD) Business Council, and compèred by the BBC’s Jamie Owen. It will feature a packed agenda focusing on innovation, the China and USA export markets, major project opportunities, tourism and more.

Businesses will also be able to access advice from a wide range of leading experts and business advisors during the day.

Flintshire County Council is supporting the event, Chief Executive Colin Everett, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with the NWMD Business Council to support the Business Growth North Wales conference. Driving commerce and industry and supporting ambitious local businesses is a key area of focus for the Council. We’re very pleased to be part of this exciting event, which will provide attendees with valuable insights from industry leaders and experts across sectors.”

Paul McKinlay, senior VP and head of Airbus’ Broughton Plant, will be speaking on innovation in manufacturing and aerospace. He said: “For companies operating in R&D and advanced manufacturing, North Wales is a great place to be. There are exciting plans afoot to upgrade and invest in North Wales’ advanced manufacturing capability – with over £20 million of investment going toward the development of the new Advanced Manufacturing & Research Institute (AMRI) in Broughton.

“Wales has a major role to play in the development and design of future aerospace technology and I’ll be exploring best practice on innovation for companies operating in this highly exciting sector.”

Rachel Clacher, director and founder of Moneypenny, will be exploring the potential for international expansion for services businesses. She said: “Technology is really opening up the potential for international expansion, which is a very exciting prospect for companies based in North Wales and has the potential to deliver substantial growth for businesses currently only operating in the UK. During the conference I’ll be exploring Moneypenny’s journey from servicing the UK market, to operating Internationally.”
