Zenith Global Health appoints leading vascular expert as patron
Zenith Global Health, the organisation behind the prestigious healthcare professionals awards, that celebrate and acknowledge healthcare professionals for their dedication and commitment, have appointed Professor Mark Whiteley as their patron.
Professor Whiteley was the first Surgeon in the UK to perform endovenous (“keyhole”) surgery for varicose veins, as well as inventing the TRLOP surgical technique. He has also founded the College of Phlebology, an international college of excellence in venous surgery and the UK based charity, The Leg Ulcer Charity.
Professor Whiteley founded The Whiteley Clinic in Guildford, which has now expanded to London and Bristol. He is passionate about education, research and excellence in healthcare, and his award winning practice has funded many research studies as well as training and mentoring many up and coming doctors, nurses and technicians. He is a visiting Professor at the University of Surrey and is forging research links with the University of Reading.
Commenting on the new appointment as Patron of Zenith Global Healthcare Awards, Prof. Mark Whiteley said: “I am delighted to be appointed to The Zenith Global Healthcare Awards. So many professionals in healthcare go through their professional lives without any recognition of the excellence they provide, over and above their contracted service. The Zenith Global Healthcare awards not only provides a platform to recognise those who are doing just that, it will also help encourage healthcare professionals in the future to strive that bit harder to provide excellence to their patients, support for their colleagues and to get involved with projects and research to improve healthcare for all.”
In a statement released by Mary Akangbe, President of Zenith Global said: “We are truly honoured and excited to welcome Professor Whiteley on board. His passion and dedication to constantly seek the best possible care for patients as well bringing out the best in people are some of his many attributes that resonates with us at Zenith Global Health. He has been a source of inspiration and support for us and we continue to embrace his sound advice which is vital to growth and sustenance.”
