On the up! Barratt Developments invests in futures across its technical and construction teams
Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, which includes both the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has strengthened its technical and construction teams with a total of 11 promotions over recent months. These investments into employee development indicate the housebuilder’s continuous commitment to helping its staff progress and grow professionally.
The promotions include those of James Swann and Steve Usher, from Site Managers to Senior Site Manager, and both have recently been recognised with Pride in the Job Quality Awards, gaining official recognition for the excellence in which they run their sites. Another Pride in the Job Award winner, Gary Taylor, has also been promoted from Senior Site Manager to Contracts Manager, overseeing work at all of the division’s developments.
On his promotion, Gary commented: “I am so pleased to have been promoted from Senior Site Manager to Contracts Manager, having been with the company for nearly 18 years after starting at David Wilson Northern in 1999. Barratt Developments has continuously helped me to progress and I now look forward to helping others develop.”
Also receiving promotions are Joshua Whitehead, Brian Greene and Martyn Buck, who all progress from Assistant Site Manager to Site Manager. Joshua began his career with Barratt Developments as an apprentice bricklayer in 2010 and went on to become one of the first Barratt Developments employees to go through a specially designed course in Residential Development and Construction.
Joshua said: “Barratt has supported me from the very beginning of my career, through starting as an apprentice, through to supporting me with a degree to working my way to become an Assistant Site Manager! I am delighted to be progressing through the company and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Further promotions include Robert Carter progressing from Technical Co-Ordinator to Design Manager; Gavin Wilkinson from Technical Co-Ordinator to Senior Technical Co-Ordinator; Graham Rhodes goes from Engineer to Senior Engineer; Robert Berkeley from Senior Quantity Surveyor to Chief Quantity Surveyor and James Sargent has been promoted from Technical Apprentice to Assistant Technical Co-Ordinator.
Ian Ruthven, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, commented: “At Barratt Developments, we are committed to developing our employees to help them achieve their full potential and the promotion of 11 members of the team indicates that. They have all worked incredibly hard, going from strength to strength in their individual fields, and we look forward to seeing them continue to progress within the company.”
