Vital Energi seals £7.9m contract for Royal Albert Dock scheme
Blackburn-based Vital Energi has been added to one of the biggest development projects currently underway in London after it secured a £7.9m design and build contract with Multiplex.
The energy management firm has been confirmed for the first phase energy scheme for the huge Royal Albert Dock scheme currently under development by ABP London.
As part of the work, Vital will build, operate and maintain the site’s temporary energy centre and district heating and cooling networks that will serve the first phase of the 4.7 million sq ft mixed-use development.
The confirmation of the contract win comes after Vital acted as lead design consultants for ABP for the last two years and were revealed as the preferred bidder for the energy work.
The £1.7bn development is set to become the capital’s next business district, with developers ABP hoping to create a thriving hub of Asian businesses and develop the area into London’s gateway to the Far East.
Regional Director for Vital Energi, Rob Callaghan, commented: “The Royal Albert Dock is one of three projects where we are installing both district heating and cooling networks, which is becoming increasingly popular in the UK.
“It has been fantastic to work alongside other highly acclaimed businesses through the consultancy stage and we look forward to delivering the energy solution for this exciting new development at Royal Albert Dock.”
