A new sports centre is on its way to Halton thanks to Caddick Construction's £1.3m contract deal

Halton residents can soon enjoy brand new sports changing facilities as Caddick Construction has begun work on a single storey pavilion on Stockham Lane, Murdishaw, after being awarded a £1.3m contract earlier this year.

The new Halton Sports Centre will cater for the Linnets Football Club, with the facilities to be used by the Linnets Senior Mens and Senior Ladies teams and by 43 junior teams including 15 girls teams and 28 boy teams.

Construction is said to be on site until October 2017 to complete the project. Caddick will also be providing disabled ramps and drainage infrastructure, and residents should expect a fully accessible changing space with car parking.

Caddick’s managing director, Andrew Murray, said: “The new pavilion will be a valuable resource for youth sports teams who I’m sure will make the most of the space.

“We’re delighted to be working on brand-new changing facilities that will benefit the Runcorn community and beyond.”

Ron Hignett, councillor and portfolio holder for Physical Environment, added: “This is part of a wider regeneration scheme where the council has sold land and reinvested the proceeds of the sale to provide improved community facilities for [the] Murdishaw people.

“I am sure that local people will welcome the new jobs that the scheme will bring to the area.”

Caddick Construction and Caddick Civil Engineering have offered such services for more than 35 years across a range of market sectors including commercial, education, industrial, leisure, care, retail… The group employs nearly 500 people with a turnover of £90m.
