Independent coffee chain sets up shop at 20 Chapel Street
Independent coffee chain Bean is to launch its latest venue at a major city centre office development 20 Chapel Street in Liverpool.
The Liverpool-headquartered business has agreed with Canmoor, who purchased the freehold on the building last year, to take 1,300 sq ft at the building’s ground floor at the major commercial scheme following a £3m refurbishment effort at the building which introduced room for a new cafe space at its entrance.
The venue, which will be the independent brand’s eleventh venue across Manchester and Liverpool, will give it a presence in the heart of the city’s commercial district when it opens in September 2017.
Director and co-founder of Bean, Jon Whyte, said: “We’re really looking forward to opening our latest venture in one of the most distinctive buildings in Liverpool’s business district and giving tenants a completely new space where they can take a break from the office or hold an informal meeting.
“We’ve already had positive feedback from current tenants at 20 Chapel Street who are excited to see Bean opening in their building.”
Sam Walker, director at Canmoor, which purchased the freehold of 20 Chapel Street in June last year, said: “Bean is a firm favourite in Liverpool and we’re delighted to have them onboard at 20 Chapel Street.
“The addition of a café operator was an important part of our refurbishment plans to give tenants a new amenity and create more of a community within the building. The cafe fit out is now starting to take shape and we’re looking forward to breathing new life into the building.”
Worthington Owen acted for Canmoor on the deal, and they have recently been joined by CBRE as joint agents on the remaining 25,000 sq ft of refurbished offices at the scheme.
