North West Logistics upsizes as part of £6m expansion
A Hyndburn-based logistics firm is to move into new premises as part of a business-wide expansion which will also see more jobs being created.
North West Logistics, which is based at Altham Business Park, is currently expanding its premises so that it will soon have space to house its fleet of 50 articulated lorries on a site adjacent to its current base.
The firm obtained planning permission for a large field area next to its HQ which will supercede the small lorry park which is current in use, and will be operational by October this year.
Dunn commented: “Before we had a small lorry park and on a weekend when all the vehicles would return it was like a jigsaw puzzle to get them all parked. Moving here will be a big improvement.
“We transport goods for customers all over the mainland UK and into Europe and we offer warehousing for customers’ products.
“We work on repeat contracts with a number of blue-chip multinationals and have around 10 core customers.
“With the new building, which is five times larger, we will be looking to take on new staff and will be expanding our customer base in the next year.”
North West Logistics was founded in 2009 after a merger between two local businesses and, after seeing out the recession, went from strength to strength to the point where it was able to buy its current home at Altham Business Park outright.
Its £6m expansion drive will now help to unlock future growth at the firm, with Dunn stating that the expanded premises would facilitate more new hires while a sponsorship deal with a local amateur football team would help to get the firm’s name out there.
He explained: “With the new building, which is five times larger, we will be looking to take on new staff and will be expanding our customer base in the next year.
“We have also invested in the local community by sponsoring Accrington Stanley’s Ladies’ Football Team with a new away kit.”
