Sovini Property Services give Mill Spring Court dementia friendly refurbishment
One Vision Housing employed Sovini Property Services to redevelop their Mill Spring Court property in Bootle, including a full refurbishment of all the communal areas at the property. One Vision Housing are investing over £1m to refurbish all of their retirement schemes, to make them more energy efficient and accessible for people living with dementia.
The entire property was given new paint, wallpaper, carpets and fittings throughout, with each section given its own distinctive colour scheme. This was done to help anyone living with dementia navigate the building easily.
The residents were consulted throughout the refurbishment, and chose the fabrics and colours for all of the soft furnishings, carpets, window blinds and curtains.
The furniture removed from Mill Spring Court was donated to two local charities, who are partners of The Sovini Group. The furniture was collected from the site and delivered to the charities by The Carroll Group. The organisations that received the furniture were the Liverpool Veterans HQ and the Seaforth Community Association, with both offering special thanks to Sovini Property Services.
As a thank you to the residents for their patience during the refurbishment, and for all of their input and feedback throughout the process, the communal lounge at Mill Spring Court was officially reopened on the 27th July with an afternoon tea event for all residents. The feedback received during this event was unanimously positive, with all of the residents of Mill Spring Court very happy with the results of the refurbishment.
Jacqueline Boughley, Customer Liaison Officer at Sovini Property Services, said: “We were keen to involve the residents from concept through to delivery and keep them fully informed throughout the refurbishment. I was on site every day and the residents really appreciated being consulted about how they wanted the property to look. Speaking to them at the afternoon tea event, the feedback from everyone was fantastic.”
Jimmy Culshaw, from the Liverpool Veterans HQ said: “Thank you so much for the fantastic, donated furniture which will be used to support our vulnerable families, we are glad to be working in partnership with The Sovini Group.”
Tommy Jones, from the Seaforth Community Association, also commented: “I don’t have the words to express my thanks for the donation of furniture, it will make such a difference to the lives of vulnerable people. Thank you so much for all your support.”
