Manchester law firm berg swallowed by global practice Kennedys
International law firm Kennedys has completed a deal to merge with Manchester legal practice berg.
The agreement will see berg founder Reuben Berg and CEO Alison Loveday join Kennedys as partners.
The rest of the staff will join the company’s Manchester office at the beginning of October as berg moves forward under the Kennedys brand.
Reuben, who established berg in 1980, said: “We are excited and looking forward to working as part of a global infrastructure that provides exceptional advice and service to its clients, without compromising our imaginative approach.
“We have turned down many opportunities over the years that weren’t the right fit to grow berg in the way we wanted, and I am thrilled that we have brought together two very like-minded businesses.”
Kennedys senior partner Nick Thomas commented: “I am delighted that Reuben, Alison, and their team have joined Kennedys.
“They come with an excellent reputation, serving businesses and entrepreneurs in key sectors including property development, technology, leisure, healthcare and education.”
He continued: “This has been a strategic growth area for Kennedys and we are very pleased to be further growing our presence in the North West with a distinctive commercial offering. The combined team will offer substantially enhanced services to clients, with client focus remaining at our core.”
Kennedys has operated in Manchester since 2008. In October 2016, the firm moved into a bigger office in the city to accommodate its growing foothold in the region.
