New kit helps spark future careers in welding
Sparks will be flying for all the right reasons at Stockton’s NETA Training Group following a £75,000 investment in high tech welding kit.
The centre, which specialises in a wide range of industrial and engineering training, has added 10 brand new welding bays to its facility off Portrack Lane.
The new bays, which feature MIG/MAG, TIG and MMA welding sets, bring NETA’s number of welding booths to 35, and offers greater availability to those companies looking to train and test out welders in the region and beyond.
NETA’s commercial engineering co-ordinator, Iain Taylor, said: “The expansion of our welding facilities offers a great chance to meet the growing demands of employers and individuals across the UK.
“It also marks an investment in helping to build a future skilled workforce and plug the current skills gaps within industry on Teesside and the wider region.”
Iain said demand for highly trained and coded welders is expected to increase with the growth in renewable and wind energy sectors, as well as mining and natural resources in the area.
He said: “With this significant investment, NETA is positioning itself to be able to quickly meet the demand for testing and training.”
The expansion of the welding facility is one of a number of upcoming investments in NETA Training Group’s commercial offer.
NETA delivers commercial industry training in areas including scaffolding, gas, lifting and rigging, welding, fabrication, mechanical, electrical and health and safety. It also offers a range of full-time engineering courses and provides specialised apprenticeship training for young people starting their careers in industry.
