L&G has broken ground at its Walthamstow BTR site
Property firm Legal & General has kicked off development at its Blackhorse Mills scheme in Walthamstow following an official ground breaking ceremony.
The development, which is one of the largest purpose-built rental schemes in the UK, will provide around 440 new homes in North London with contractor Galliford Try Partnerships.
Overlooking the Walthamstow Wetlands, the BTR scheme will include studio, one, two and three-bedroom homes with first residents set to be welcomed some time between late 2019 and early 2020.
Stuart Brodie, Managing Director for Galliford Try Partnerships South East said: “I am delighted that we have been awarded the contract for this prestigious, mixed-use development.
“Our business recognises that the rental sector has potential for real growth and we are delighted to have our strong track record of providing high-quality housing recognised in this way.”
Dan Batterton, BTR Fund Manager at LGIM Real Assets, commented: “Blackhorse Lane is a hugely vibrant and rapidly growing area of London. It needs new quality housing and we are pleased to have appointed Galliford Try Partnerships to help us achieve our vision of creating a vibrant and healthy community.
“Waltham Forest Council has been a very supportive forward thinking partner and it is only through this joined up, progressive approach that we are able to make such a large investment into the Blackhorse Lane community, supporting residents and businesses.”
