Voneus empowers the rural ‘forgotten’; connecting regions others feel are ‘lost’
Now in the 21st century, yet still over 1.3m UK households remain lacking in acceptable internet access. Now seen as a ‘simple human right’: access to the Internet is surprisingly still not globally available – with no justification as to why.
Voneus, champion of rural community broadband, aims to rectify this and is pledging to ensure Internet access and fast broadband services become noticed as a basic ‘human right’; ensuring that this essential and sought-after commodity is received by all.
Whether it’s your granny in the Outer Hebrides or your flexible working colleague in deepest Surrey, Voneus is striving to connect the nation at a rapid rate – taking only 4-5 months to deploy to a community. In the meantime, BT estimates that universal coverage for remote households will be achieved in the next 4-5 years . By providing broadband for everyone, no matter how remote their UK location or village, and with no digging up of roads required, Voneus is championing the people and bringing parity between rural areas and city dwellers.
Children, families and work colleagues across the UK are at last being thrown a lifeline by the UK broadband provider, finally equipping them with quality, high speed and robust broadband at an affordable price – fundamental for people to live, work, play and learn in an ever-digital society, at no premium.
Today’s digital landscape is shaping rapidly and as a result, connectivity is imperative to a ‘normal’ everyday life. In the past decade alone the number of adults in Great Britain using the Internet weekly has increased from 51% to 88%, and 73% of adults access the Internet while “on the go”. Access to super-fast broadband is vital for individuals and businesses to evolve and not be ‘left in the dark’, irrespective of their location. This is where Voneus steps in; making sure UK rural families are guaranteed this fundamental privilege.
Steve Leighton, CEO at Voneus, said: “A good Internet connection isn’t a privilege only to be enjoyed in the cities. The Internet is for the masses and is in daily demand the length and breadth of the UK. It is one of today’s basic necessities and we want to put remote locations on that digital map by getting them connected. Internet access is crucial for business, education and ordinary daily activities and those living in the country’s deepest, darkest pockets should not suffer and be left behind by a lack of a decent internet connection. This is why we’ve been working closely with local communities in currently poorly connected areas to rectify this; using innovative technology to ‘beam’ connections UK-wide.”
Voneus is working with local communities in difficult to reach and poorly connected areas, using innovative solutions to deliver superfast broadband where alternative services may not be available. The company currently has ongoing installations in Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire.
Voneus works with supportive Tier 1 providers on initial connectivity to install broadband quickly and effectively to deliver speeds between 35mbps and 50mbps using innovative Wireless Fibre To The Home (WFTTH) solution, rivalling other services in the industry.
