Overseas training business chooses Newcastle to establish UK base

Newcastle-born businessman Ian Murray has returned to the North East to launch the UK arm of global skills training business PROTRAINING.

Opening at Regent Centre, Gosforth, the expansion of PROTRAINING has been supported by Invest Newcastle’s Land:In Soft Landing Programme, a free service designed to establish overseas businesses in the city.

Having spent nine years in the Middle East, and the last six growing PROTRAINING in the United Arab Emirates working with partners such as Nestlé, Emirates Airlines and Shell, Ian spoke of his delight to bring the business model home to Newcastle.

He commented: “The city has changed a lot since I last lived here, and it’s a fantastic place for PROTRAINING to start building its presence in the UK market.

“With over 18,000 professional services organisations in the region and a 33 per cent growth in corporate service sectors in the North East over the last ten years, Newcastle is a growing city of choice for overseas organisations who are looking to expand their services in the UK and a popular base to work with local and national businesses.”

PROTRAINING is officially set to launch in Newcastle with a Breakfast Event at St. James Park on Friday 29th September 2017. The timing will be from 08:30am through 11:30am and will be held at the Centenary Suite at St. James Park.

Catherine Walker, Inward Investment Director at Invest Newcastle, added: “PROTRAINING is the latest in a succession of international businesses who have chosen Newcastle to expand or enter the UK market, further positioning Newcastle to compete alongside other major global cities as a modern, innovative and business-savvy location.

“Our soft-landing programme is designed to give overseas companies looking to expand or relocate into the City access to essential support services. Not only does it provide very practical help, it extends a welcome into the local business community, helping them feel at home and well-networked.”
