Webhelp Celebrates a Galaxy of Stars in Dearne Valley
Leading global customer experience and business process outsourcer has recognised the top talent at its Rotherham site at the business’ annual Star Awards.
The talented bunch from Rotherham scooped a total of three Star Awards, which were presented at a glittering gala dinner in the glamourous surroundings of Edinburgh’s The Hub.
The Team of the Year award went to the people working on the First Utility campaign, Simona Rosca won People Leader of the Year (Team Leader) and the prestigious Making a Difference Award went to Terry Mason.
The Making a Difference Award is a special presentation and the winner is selected by Webhelp UK, India and SA CEO, David Turner. Terry has given selflessly of her time to ensure newspapers, magazines and the magic of books can be brought to the blind and sight impaired through her work with Rotherham Talking Newspaper.
Terry was inspired to volunteer to read and edit newspapers, magazines and books with Rotherham Talking Newspaper by her gran, who lived with them when Terry was young. Her gran was blind and Terry would spend hours bringing her pleasure by reading to her. Having seen how happy it made her gran she wanted to be able to bring that happiness to other blind and visually impaired people who Terry understands can suffer greatly from loneliness.
David Turner said: “When I heard of the wonderful work Terry has been doing with Rotherham Talking Newspaper, I knew she was the perfect choice for our Making a Difference Award this year. Webhelp is very proud of the communities we work in and is keen to ensure we support those communities and give back. Terry has done that in a very real and inspirational way this year. Thanks to her efforts many visually impaired people will continue to be able to enjoy and develop a love of books and have the opportunity to escape into fascinating and exciting new worlds through the written word.
“I am extremely proud of the whole team in Dearne Valley. They are a credit to our business and I am delighted that they have taken home three of our top trophies this year.”
The winners each receive a cheque for £1,000 – and in the case of the Making a Difference Award, the charity also receives a cheque for £1,000.
