Global charity makes its Landing at MediaCityUK
The Landing at MediaCityUK, Salford, played host to United Nations-backed global charity World Merit recently as they welcomed over 120 delegates from across the world to their Merit 360 event.
The team at The Landing was tasked with hosting the Merit 360 delegates this month for a full day event. With interactive workshops, inspirational speakers and intense team sessions, World Merit hoped that the buzz of MediaCityUK would inspire and energise attendees and their prospective social enterprises, which are focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. With a diverse range of attendees from Nepal to China to Latin America, Merit 360 brought an international flavour to The Landing.
Michelle Hendriks, organiser for Merit 360 commented: “With our program Merit360 we wanted to provide all our delegates the skills and knowledge to successfully implement their social enterprise ideas. We wanted to focus on the business model creation, funding strategy, impact measurement, marketing strategy and the implementation plan development. To make it as tangible and exciting as possible, we came up with interacting with MediaCityUK for our marketing focus day.”
Toast PR in conjunction with business storyteller Will Stone, delivered a fast-paced storytelling and messaging workshop for the team which was highly received. Delegates also heard from Dame Nancy Rothwell, Vice Chancellor of the University of Manchester and Aziz Rashid, Head of Regional and Local Programmes for the BBC in the North West of England.
Maya Dibley from The Landing added: “We were delighted to welcome World Merit to The Landing. The whole building was full of energy during their time here. We offered a variety of collaboration spaces for the 16 teams to enable them to develop their marketing plans during the day. As MediaCityUK becomes a hub of creativity for all disciplines and businesses, we are well placed to support all levels of organisations – from start-ups to growth companies.”
