Half century marked with fastest 50 place
As it approaches 50 years in business, a family founded construction firm has, today, been named among the fastest fifty growing companies in the North East.
Burridge Construction, incorporated by Peter Burridge in October 1967, will discover its exact position in the 20th Ward Hadaway list of top performing enterprises at an awards ceremony - to be staged in the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art on Gateshead Quayside on October 6th.
The league table is based upon turnover and profit over a three year period. In that time Burridge turnover has grown from £12 million to £16 million and gross profits are up from £2.1m to £2.9m a 38% increase.
Phil Burridge, who recently took the helm at the business on the retirement of two brothers, said: “It is very pleasing to have been recognised in this way. It shows that, despite having been around for almost 50 years, we have not simply been resting on our laurels. We are ambitious and we want to expand and grow further.”
This drive is demonstrated by the arrival of experienced new build expert, Stephen McCoy as Commercial Director, to help the business break into and make its mark in that sector.
Burridge employs 160 people and from offices in Newcastle and Wakefield, has built a sound reputation for carrying out refurbishment and repair contracts throughout the North of England for universities, hospitals, housing associations and private sector clients.
The Ward Hadaway Fastest 50 has been published every year since 1998. It highlights and celebrates the achievements of fast-growing, profitable companies in the region, based on recent growth statistics. At the award ceremony the fastest growing large, medium and small businesses in the region will be announced and honoured and the overall fastest growing business revealed.
Jamie Martin, Managing Partner at Ward Hadaway, said: “We congratulate Burridge and every company in the Fastest 50 for 2017 for their achievements in making this year’s list. It shows what terrific companies we have in the region and underlines what a great place the North East is to do business.”
