North Yorkshire home to more than 50,000 companies for first time ever
North Yorkshire is now home to more than 50,000 companies for the first time ever, according to new figures.
At the end of August 2017 50,025 businesses were registered in North Yorkshire, according to company secretarial software specialists Inform Direct, based on statistics from Companies House and the Office of National Statistics.
Leading the way for the region were Harrogate with 10,546 companies, York with 10,439 and Middlesborough with 5,061.
In addition, North Yorkshire is seeing a positive year in terms of new companies being registered, with a total of 4,535 being formed as of the end of August.
John Korchak, director of operations at Inform Direct, said: “North Yorkshire had an impressive year in 2016 which has continued into 2017, passing the 50,000 milestone for the first time in its history.
“This shows that it offers a healthy environment for business – both in terms of new startups and existing companies.”
