Whizzpopper! Local housebuilder holds storytelling event for Durham pupils to celebrate Roald Dahl Day

Local housebuilder, Barratt Homes North East, recently worked with Rosa Street Primary School to host a day of storytelling in celebration of Roald Dahl Day. The event, which involved readings from the book and interactive quizzes, was hosted at Barratt’s Burton Woods development in Spennymoor.

On the day, Tony Junior, a local entertainer and storyteller, brought Roald Dahl’s BFG alive for the Year Six class at Rosa Street Primary School, with an interactive quiz, games and readings from the book.

Christie Edge, Sales Manager at Burton Woods said: “Roald Dahl is such a loved author, so it was brilliant to have Rosa Street come down to the development and celebrate the afternoon with us in one of our show homes. We work hard to give back to the communities in which we build and we hope to continue doing activities like this in the future.”

Karen Harrison, Deputy Head and Year Six teacher, commented: “We were honoured when Barratt asked us to help them celebrate Roald Dahl Day. We’ve been focusing on The BFG in class this month so it was fantastic to get the children out of the classroom and learning more about the story in an interactive way. It was a fun afternoon for all of us and we would like to thank the Barratt team for having us.”

Surrounded by the beautiful countryside of Whitworth Park, Burton Woods offers two three and four bedroom houses. With good commuter links, Burton Woods is popular with both families and young professionals.
