Kier to build £28m college complex in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter
Construction services firm Kier is building a multi-million pound student accommodation block and new teaching facility for Liverpool International College.
The £28m scheme, being delivered for language education business Kaplan International, will see Kier create a 47,000 sq ft, 13-storey, 259-bed student accommodation block and a three-storey college for up to 900 students.
Liverpool International College is partnered on the project with the University of Liverpool.
Once complete, the development will be part of Liverpool Knowledge Quarter’s £1bn Paddington Village – the 450-acre urban innovation district set to house key players in the fields of science, health, technology, education, music and creative and performing arts.
Kier Construction Northern managing director John O’Callaghan said: “We’re thrilled to be delivering this exciting scheme, which will provide important facilities for students in the heart of Liverpool.
He added: “We’re looking forward to working with Kaplan International, using our team’s experience and expertise in similar projects to deliver a quality, high-profile project to be proud of.”
The new Liverpool International College facilities will open in September 2019.
