Contract win for hospital theatre upgrade
A Boldon company has been awarded the contract to install a new specialist diagnostic theatre for a leading regional hospital.
Healthcare specialists Opus Building Services won the contract to install the new state of the art theatre at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle working with contractors Compass Developments (NE) Ltd on behalf of NHS Hospitals Foundation Trust.
The specialist building services firm will replace an outdated diagnostic theatre at the Freeman Hospital, with a new Radio Diagnostic Theatre (Cath 4 Lab), including the safe removal of the existing structure and installation of new medical equipment to allow the hospital to continue to provide excellent patient service in the future.
Managing Director Gavin Richardson commented; “The Freeman Hospital is highly regarded nationally for its excellent quality facilities and patient care, as well as having an enviable international reputation for its pioneering expertise in transplant surgery. The hospital continues to invest in state-of-the-art facilities for people in the region so we were delighted to work with the hospital once again.”

The firm, which has an impressive track record in the health sector from critical care installations such as high-dependency and intensive care units to modern office accommodation recently completed the upgrade of the Bowel Screening Unit and accident and emergency department at the QE Hospital in Gateshead, as well as completing works to install a new MRI scanner at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI).
Opus Building Services provide specialist electrical, heating and plumbing services across a range of sectors including; commercial and retail, healthcare, education, sports and leisure as well as industrial and manufacturing.
