Durham to host international conference on city lighting to coincide with Lumiere
Planners, engineers, lighting designers, architects and mayors hailing from over 70 cities across the world are set to descend on Durham next month, as the city prepares to host an international conference on city lighting.
LUCI (Lighting Urban Community International), the international network of cities on urban lighting, holds an annual general meeting and conference in a major city each year.
After taking place in Guangzhou (China), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Helsinki (Finland), and Seoul (South Korea) in recent years, the latest conference will see its 2017 feature take place in Durham.
Holding its 15th annual general meeting and conference inthe region, the event will stretch from Monday November 13 to 16, coinciding with the Lumiere light festival which takes place from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 November.
Registration for the conference has just opened and already delegates from Eindhoven, Toulouse, Reykjavik, London, Glasgow and Shanghai have confirmed they will attend.
It is expected that the event will attract up to 150 delegates from all over the world.

“Lumiere, the UK’s largest light festival, attracts hundreds of thousands to our city and generates millions for our local economy.
