Exact Abacus’ processes get a big thumbs up

Lancashire-based ERP software, eCommerce and fulfilment specialist, Exact Abacus has recently achieved ISO 9001 and Dangerous Goods certifications, another substantial investment following their expansion in distribution facilities.

The ISO 9001 accreditation ensures that quality management systems are practical and efficient to deliver a better service to clients. The rigorous 18-month programme documented all processes and implemented quality assurance systems throughout the business.

The certification demonstrates Exact Abacus’ ability to provide services that exceed customer expectations and ensure that their business is in good hands.

Philip Smith, health and safety compliance manager at Exact Abacus, comments: “We have big ambitions to grow the business and we aim to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of our Quality Management System. ISO 9001 holds us to a high standard of service and helps us continuously improve the business.”

Exact Abacus is now also certified in handling dangerous goods in its fulfilment centres. This enables the company to store and distribute products including batteries, aerosols, fragrances and cosmetics.

The regulations are policed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation, International Air Transport Association and the Civil Aviation Authority to ensure that cargo is safe when travelling through the air. Consignments are also managed in accordance with the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and use of Transferable Pressure and the International Carriage of Goods by Road. This means that Exact Abacus has joined an elite club of fulfilment providers to package, identify and correctly document the international shipment of dangerous goods.

Philip added: “This was another step in our growth strategy. The investment improves our industry-leading service levels and extends our capability to attract more customers.”

The dangerous goods accreditation added to the organic SOIL certification, achieved by the company in 2016, means they can now handle a wider variety of products than ever before.
