Harrowells scoops two top home conveyancing awards

Two major home conveyancing awards have been scooped by North and East Yorkshire law firm, Harrowells Solicitors, one for the second year in succession.

York-based Harrowells has become Yorkshire and North East Regional Firm of The Year in the Law Firm Services National Conveyancing Awards, an accolade it won for the first time in 2016.

The firm, which entered the awards for the first time in 2015, was also national runner up, gaining the Silver Award in the nationwide Overall Conveyancing Firm of the Year category.

For the first time the awards’ judging process included mystery shopping company, Shoppers Anonymous, regularly polling a sample of entrants’ conveyancing clients as they progressed through their housing transaction to get their views on the quality of service they were receiving.

In their comments for the regional award, the judges said: “Harrowells completed an excellent application supported by clear knowledge of their local market. Their progressive approach to client handling and a high score in the compliance check made them a clear winner in the Yorkshire and North East Regional Category.

For the national award, the judges added: “Harrowells had a great compliance score. The firm regularly evaluates how it delivers its service and focuses on making incremental improvements in ways that differentiates the service it offers.”

Harrowells head of residential conveyancing, Kevin Millar, based at the firm’s Haxby Office, says: “As conveyancing is highly competitive and clients can easily switch allegiance, we constantly monitor our performance to see how we can improve.

“One reason we are thrilled to win these two awards is because the judging assessed clients’ experiences through regular feedback about their satisfaction with our service in what is often one of the most expensive and stressful transactions of their lives where high-quality legal advice and support can make all the difference.”

Harrowells was among the first law firms in Yorkshire and the North East to warn about cyber security and how criminal gangs are operating in the housing chain, setting up bogus email addresses and spurious law firms, in attempts to syphon off money on the completion of house sales, and to put rigorous procedures in place to combat this.

Harrowells Solicitors offers a wide range of legal services to residential, commercial, farming and private clients. The firm has three offices in York and others in Pocklington, Easingwold and Thirsk.
