Property golf day goes with a swing – and raises an above par sum for charity
The annual Leeds Property Investment Charity Golf Day, featuring the cream of the Yorkshire property industry, has raised nearly £11,000 for a national mental health charity.
The event was organised by Brackenridge Hanson Tate (BHT), and this year the proceeds of the day went to the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust.
The Golf Day took place at the picturesque Ilkley Golf Club with a record number of teams taking part, including representatives of JLL, Town Centre Securities, Towngate and CBRE.
Generous sponsorship for the event was received from Blacks Solicitors, GVA, The Peter Black Charitable Trust, Reesdenton, Ryden and BHT.
David Brackenridge of BHT reported: “The weather was kind to us and the course was in good shape. The defining feature of the course is the first five holes’ proximity to the river. Many saw their balls disappearing into The Wharfe and floating down towards Otley!
“We choose to support the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust after I attended the Yorkshire Ball at Rudding Park which was organised by the Trust and I was inspired by what I heard. One speaker, Dick Moore, spoke movingly and brilliantly about the effects of depression on his family. The Trust has strong links with Yorkshire, raising the awareness of depression and mental health amongst young people.”
“Overall, we had a great day in a good cause, with the Ilkley Golf Club catering staff putting on an excellent buffet, while the prize presentation and auction hit the right note as regards humour and generosity.”
He added: “Nearly £11,000 was raised, which exceeded all expectations. Our thanks go to everyone who took part in this very enjoyable day.”
