Former running track in Gorton set for 131-home transformation
Building firm Seddon is delivering 131 new homes in the Gorton area of Manchester.
The Bolton-based company is constructing the properties for Cube Great Places, part of Great Places Housing Group.
Designed by architect Nicol Thomas, the £13.5m scheme will see the formerly disused running track on Melland Road turned into 34 two-bed, 82 three-bed and 15 four-bed houses for sale, private rent and shared ownership.
Seddon regional director Duncan Williams said: “This top-of-the-range development showcases the best of our ability in delivering quality new-build properties alongside housing association partners.
“We’re proud to be able to improve local communities and are confident that the finished scheme will be a thriving addition to the area.”
Seddon previously built 150 houses for Great Places in Longsight, Manchester.
The firm’s pipeline with the housing group includes 150 properties to be delivered in 2018 and 2019.
Great Places Housing Group’s head of private sector development, Ben Townsend, said: “This site will offer 130 high-quality homes for sale, shared ownership and private rent, the profits from which will benefit and support Great Places’ wider work in our Communities.
“Homes will be marketed, let and sold by Plumlife, our award-winning, affordable homes company which helps people to fulfil their homeownership dreams.”
A showroom and sales office for the scheme will be located off Melland Road.
Work on the multi-phased, 113,000 sq ft development is due for completion in December 2019.
