“Oktoberfest” On Menu at The Drover’s Arms To Raise Funds For Martin House Hospice

A family-oriented “Oktoberfest” boasting live entertainment and themed food and drinks is being staged by a North Yorkshire coaching inn to raise funds for a much-loved charity.

Starting on Friday, October 27 and concluding at last orders on Sunday, October 29, the event is being staged at The Drovers Arms, Skipwith, with proceeds going to Martin House Children’s Hospice.

The three days will feature live music, children’s activities and an Oktoberfest food and drinks menu featuring an array of foods and drinks specially created for the event.

Weather permitting, a bouncy castle and barbecue will be held in the inn’s grounds and, come rain or shine, live entertainment will be provided by a number of artists including local singer and guitarist, Rachel Croft.

And, as German Oktoberfest’s are centred on eating and drinking, the food being created by the Drovers’ kitchen brigade will be Germanic in origin but given a Yorkshire twist. Additionally, there will be four guest beers to appeal to real ale lovers.

Drovers Arms owner Graham Usher said: We are very much looking forward to staging our first every Oktoberfest in aid of Martin House Children’s Hospice.

“Being held at the end of the school half-term week, the three days have been designed to be full of fun and aimed at the whole family.

“There will be something to entertain all ages, be it great food, superb real ales, talented singers and a bouncy castle for kids young and old.

“Our kitchen brigade, led by Shane White, has been busy creating a special menu for the event, which, as ever, will be made using fresh, local ingredients wherever possible.

“And, of course we are hoping that it will ultimately raise a decent amount of money for our chosen charity.”
