On your bike! Knight Frank’s pedal power raises £40,000 for charity

Global property consultancy Knight Frank is close to raising £40,000 for charity with a 10,000-mile cycle ride which connected all the firm’s commercial offices in the UK in a single day.

This was Knight Frank’s third Day of Giving, which raises money for the firm’s four chosen charities, LandAid, Mary’s Meals, Maggie’s and Rainbow Trust’s Children’s Charity.

Henrie Westlake, head of Knight Frank’s Leeds office and organiser of the day, commented: “We are proud of what we have achieved and would like to say a massive thank you for all our friends, families and clients who have donated so generously to four excellent causes.

“It’s fair to say that this was a tough logistical and physical exercise. Our commercial offices stretch from Aberdeen down to Bristol and across to London, so all told, we covered more than 10,000 miles on the day and something like 337,500 ft of vertical ascent.

“To put that into context, it is the equivalent of cycling from England to Australia in a day including 13 Ascents of Everest (30 from Base Camp) along the way.

“I was delighted that we had a tremendous turn-out from the Yorkshire office, which was excellent for team-bonding, as well as for raising money. The Yorkshire teams completed rides from Leeds to Sheffield and Sheffield to Manchester totaling 100 miles on the day.”

The Leeds cyclists were Graham Foxton, Henrie Westlake, Rebecca Farnsworth, Eamon Fox, Elizabeth Ridler, Sam Jamieson, Iain McPhail, Richard Henley, Jonathan Hyland, David Burns, Richard Syers, Paul Hallam, Michael Goodare, Amy Scales and Claire Bond. The proceeds raised will be shared between the four charities.
