A Glitzy End to Latimer Hinks' 125th Year
Latimer Hinks, one of the North East’s leading law firms, is to end its 125th year with a charity ball, where its fundraising group, Hel’s Angels, will get a chance to swap sportswear for stilettos.
The ball, which will be held at Wynyard Hall in the Grand Marquee on November 10th, will be the ninth organised by Latimer Hinks Solicitors and is part of its pledge to raise £10,000 for St Teresa’s Hospice and further funds for Darlington Memorial Hospital MRI-Scanner Appeal and smaller local charities.
Latimer Hinks chose to raise money for St Teresa’s Hospice in honour of colleague, Helen Thomas, a solicitor at the firm, who died in July 2016 after battling cancer and who was also supported by the Hospice. A team of colleagues, calling themselves Hel’s Angels, have been taking part in various fundraising activities throughout the year, including the Hamsterley Forest 10K and St Teresa’s It’s a Knockout competition.
The charity ball will feature a range of entertainment including international swing singer, Cole Page, and two roaming magicians, including Britain’s Got Talent’s David Penn.
The Legal 500 and Chambers UK recognised firm, which has raised over £70,000 for numerous charities, will be teaming up with a number of sponsors, including Lewis Surveying Associates, Brighter Law, MT Print and Artifact Media. County Durham Community Foundation has pledged to match funds raised on the evening.
Anne Elliott, Chief Executive of Latimer Hinks, said: “St Teresa’s Hospice is a fantastic local charity, which does important work assisting those with life-limiting illnesses and their families. It gave Helen and her family vital support during her illness, for which I know they were very grateful. It is for that reason that we decided to support the Hospice as well as other local charities in this our 125th anniversary year.
“We would like to say a big thank you to our sponsors, especially to County Durham Community Foundation.”
