POLAR KRUSH TRIUMPH AT THE MADE IN THE NORTH EAST AWARDS

GLOBAL natural iced drinks manufacturer Polar Krush has beaten off the competition to win the Food and Drink Award at the Made in the North East Awards 2017. These prestigious awards, ran by Insider, recognise and reward the manufacturing talent and skills that the North East has in abundance and gives North East companies the opportunity to celebrate their ongoing commitment to world class quality and excellence.

The awards encompass 10 different categories, with the other winners, including CA Group, AVID Technology and Martel Instruments, being announced at a black tie gala on the evening of 19 October at Redworth Hall, Newton Aycliffe.

The company, based in Ashington, triumphed after the judging panel took into consideration account innovation, commercial success and business development, along with use of regional products.

Paul Goldfinch, founder of Polar Krush said, “We are delighted to have won the Food and Drink Award at the Made in the North East Awards. Our products are enjoyed around the world and I am very proud to that they are created and developed right here in the North East. This is a fantastic achievement for my talented team who make all of this possible; the company is at a point of rapid growth and it is fantastic to see our achievements recognised in the region and beyond.

“We recently made the commitment make all of our products sugar free, within the next six months. Our aim was always to make our fun drinks a guilt-free treat by making them completely sugar free and almost zero calorie. We’re the only iced drinks, and possibly soft drink manufacturer in the world to make this commitment and I am thrilled that this has been recognised and celebrated by the awarding body.”

With excitement for the brand on the rise and orders coming in from across the UK, Europe and the Middle East, staff numbers have doubled in the past 3 years. A £1 million factory refit is currently taking place which will allow the team to create products in as little as one hour, a process which previously took a full day, creating more job opportunities at the North East headquarters. The refit will enable the team to increase their output by 500 percent and create 12 new jobs for the region.
