IT specialist Hollinbay Consultancy Services Ltd. switches it’s Cloud Back-up to Vapour

IT support specialist Hollinbay Consultancy Services has switched to a robust back-up provision from Yorkshire-based Vapour Cloud, both for the company and its client base.

Supplying IT infrastructures to SMEs throughout the region, Leeds-headquartered Hollinbay procured a new circuit from Vapour for its own offices at the start of 2017. The move from a traditional TalkTalk business line to an IP telephony system was complemented by the installation of new fibre connectivity and cloud-based back-up to replace the team’s existing Microsoft environment.

Hollinbay was so impressed with the improved cost-effectiveness of Vapour’s solution – not to mention the enhanced disaster recovery robustness – that Carl Whitham (Technical Director) made the decision to roll the back-up alternative out to clients too.

Carl elaborated: “As an IT reseller and support provider, Hollinbay tailors IT infrastructures to meet clients’ specific requirements. It’s vitally important that we have strong relationships in place with our suppliers. We have developed a long standing and trusted relationship with Vapour who own their own network, connectivity and voice platform, which, along with their Data Centre capabilities, allows us as a partner to take these additional services to our client base in confidence that we are delivering world class support.

“Our own transition from a well-known yet public back-up provision – Microsoft Azure – was a big step. However with Vapour, the billing is far simpler and more cost-effective, we’re better supported and, most importantly, we know exactly where our data resides. This presents maximum ease of access in the event of a disaster, and it is this enhanced security which prompted us to consider the value of this back-up to our wider client base, especially with GDPR around the corner.”

The majority of Hollinbay’s back-up clients have opted for the Veeam Cloud Connect solution which connects to Vapour’s data centre and provides a fully integrated, fast and secure way to back-up, replicate and restore information. Others have selected the more traditional online back-up system, Acronis.

Commenting on the importance of delivering the two options, Vapour’s CEO Tim Mercer said: “It doesn’t matter what our personal back-up preferences are – it’s about offering organisations large and small the choice to make IT decisions relevant to their own needs. True cloud communication specialists shouldn’t be prescriptive – the market is too diverse for that.”
