Deloitte leads transformation of Manchester skyline
Deloitte Real Estate continues to pave the way in transforming the regional skyline after securing a substantial number of planning permissions across Manchester, including the UK’s two tallest residential towers.
Between June 2016 and July 2017 Deloitte Real Estate has helped major developers and landowners secure planning permission on 27 key developments and strategic sites in Manchester, which combined will deliver 8,388 units to the city.
Notable schemes include Trinity Island (approved in July 2017) and Owen Street (approved in June 2016), bringing new heights to the city. Standing at 67-storeys and 64-storeys respectively at their highest points, both will overtake Beetham Tower, at 47-storeys, to become the tallest residential towers in the UK, delivering a combined 2,898 housing units to Manchester’s residential market.
John Cooper, Partner at Deloitte Real Estate, said: “We have been immensely encouraged by the growth of the regional real estate sector in recent times. As demonstrated by our most recent Crane Survey, more and more ambitious developments are taking their first steps to realisation, and we are proud to have played a key role in that process.
“The scale of development, particularly in terms of residential schemes, is very pleasing, and it is testament to the increasing appeal of Manchester as an international destination for people looking to work, invest, and live that these record figures for Deloitte are possible. It is an incredibly exciting time to be a part of the city of Manchester.”
