Manchester packaging company seals ‘ambitious growth plans’ with £800k investment

Polythene packaging company Duo UK has made a six-figure investment at its Manchester factory.

The firm is looking to ramp up production at the Vickers Street facility after spending £800k on a new printing press and mailing bag conversion machine.

The flexographic printing press has already raised Duo UK’s printed film output by 30%.

The new conversion machine, engineered to feature a unique adaptation for the company’s Duo Optipac design, is set to boost mailing bag output by over 25%.

Duo UK operations director Dale Brimelow said: “We’re constantly looking at ways to grow and build on the success that we’ve achieved over nearly three decades.

“We have ambitious growth plans and these new machines will play a big part in achieving our vision.”

He continued: “The e-commerce market appreciated instantly the obvious cost and time-saving benefits of the Duo Optipac mailing bag and subsequently demand for this product has soared.

“The additional capacity is in place as we approach the retail sector’s busiest time of the year.”

Duo UK, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2018, manufactures and distributes packaging products for retail and e-retail brands such as JD Sports, Tesco and JD Williams.

Last year, the firm expanded its footprint in Ireland after signing a contract with Donaghys Shoes, one of the country’s biggest independent footwear retailers.
